Sal Frelick is on Milwaukee’s World Series roster and in right field, and he is playing with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The injury was reported when Frelick returned from the injured list in late August; he has played through it since, and no newer update has changed that picture as the Series opens.

The cost has shown up in his game: he hit .236 with a .630 OPS over 90 games, and the shoulder has sapped his throwing from the outfield — the part of a right fielder’s job a torn labrum in the throwing shoulder hits first. Milwaukee kept him in the lineup anyway, through the Division Series and the sweep of the Dodgers, and he stays there for the World Series.

The note, in brief

  • Injury: torn labrum, right (throwing) shoulder — reported on his return from the IL in late August
  • Played through it since: .236 average, .630 OPS in 90 games; throwing from the outfield compromised
  • Status for the Series: on the roster, in right field; no newer update reported
