Two different stories are circulating about Tiger Woods this week, and they are not the same kind of story. One is confirmed by the league itself. The other is a former teammate’s prediction on a podcast. Woods, 50, has not announced anything.
The confirmed part: on Tuesday, TGL unveiled its 2027 rosters, and Woods is on the five-man roster of Jupiter Links GC — the team he co-owns — alongside Max Homa, Tom Kim, Akshay Bhatia and new signing Keith Mitchell. Rosters expanded from four players to five. Kevin Kisner is off the team: his two-year contract expired and was not renewed. Kisner: “I had a two-year contract with Jupiter Links. Tiger wants to play and they wanted to sign Keith Mitchell, which is totally fine with me.” Woods played a limited role in the 2026 TGL season before returning for the Finals, which Jupiter Links lost to Los Angeles GC. The league — an indoor simulator team competition co-founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy through their TMRW Sports, played at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens — starts its third season on December 27, expanded to seven teams, with three of five roster players competing in each match.
Confirmed vs. predicted
- Confirmed (TGL, Oct. 20): Woods is on Jupiter Links’ 2027 roster; Kisner’s contract expired and was not renewed; rosters expanded to five
- Kisner, second-hand: Woods’s manager texted that “Tiger wanted to play a full schedule”
- Kisner’s prediction only: Hero World Challenge Dec. 3–6, PNC Championship Dec. 19–20 with Charlie, then possibly the Masters April 8–11
- Counter-check (Sky Sports): Woods is not in the initial Hero field; a sponsor’s exemption is possible
- Woods has made no statement; his last pro event was the 2024 Open
The prediction: on Barstool’s Fore Play podcast, posted Wednesday, Kisner said Woods’s manager Rob McNamara had texted him that “Tiger wanted to play a full schedule” — second-hand, through Kisner — and laid out the return he expects: the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas on December 3–6, the event Woods hosts; then the PNC Championship on December 19–20, played with his son Charlie; then TGL; then possibly the Masters on April 8–11 if those go well. “Come back, get your feet wet at the Hero, play with Charlie at the father-son, play some TGL, get ready for Augusta.”
The counterweight: Sky Sports reports Woods is not in the initial field for the Hero World Challenge, though a sponsor’s exemption remains possible. No statement from Woods or his camp about any start exists in the reporting. His last professional tournament was The Open in 2024. Since then he has had a torn Achilles in the spring of 2025 and a lumbar disc replacement in October 2025.
His year off the course has also run through a courtroom. On March 27, 2026, on South Beach Road in Jupiter Island, Florida, Woods’s Land Rover clipped a truck and trailer and rolled. He told a deputy he had been looking at his phone while changing the radio; two hydrocodone pills were in his pocket; a breath test was negative for alcohol; he refused a urine test and was arrested for DUI with property damage and refusal. He pleaded not guilty at first. On September 2 he pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of reckless driving, a second offense, plus the refusal and a careless-driving citation. The DUI was dropped after two toxicologists found insufficient proof that the hydrocodone had impaired him, citing long-term tolerance. He was fined about $1,500 and given two concurrent five-year license suspensions with no hardship exemptions; the judge warned him that driving would mean going “immediately back to jail.”
