The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn tour ended on November 4 at TM Stadium National in Kuala Lumpur with its final number attached: more than $1.3 billion grossed — the highest-grossing tour by a male artist in history, confirmed Thursday by promoter Live Nation and reported across Variety, Pollstar and USA Today.
The full accounting of the run: 176 shows, 67 cities, 30 countries, five continents, more than nine million tickets sold, from a start date of July 14, 2022. In 2026 alone, the tour grossed more than $500 million and sold more than three million tickets. The tour also carried a charitable ledger: $8.5 million donated to the XO Humanitarian Fund and Global Citizen.
The Record It Took
The mark it passes belonged to Elton John. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour grossed $939 million across 330 shows between 2018 and 2023 — a farewell that held the male-artist record until this week, achieved over nearly twice as many performances. The Weeknd's tour passed it by more than $360 million in 154 fewer shows.
The All-Time Table
Only two tours in history sit above it. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is No. 1 at roughly $2 billion from 149 shows; Coldplay's Music of the Spheres tour is No. 2 at more than $1.5 billion. The Weeknd's is No. 3 all-time and the first by a solo male artist to cross a billion — the third act of any kind to do it on a single tour.
A decade ago the billion-dollar tour did not exist. Now there are three of them, and the third was built by an artist whose first shows on this run were played in the shadow of a pandemic postponement. The Kuala Lumpur finale closed the tour where its economics were loudest: the last of 176 nights, and a gross that rewrote the table it joined.
The structure of the record matters as much as the size. Elton John's farewell needed 330 shows to reach $939 million; the Eras Tour reached roughly double the Weeknd's gross in 149. The After Hours Til Dawn run sits between those shapes — 176 shows across more than three years, including a 2026 leg that by itself grossed half a billion dollars, a figure that would rank among the biggest single years any tour has ever posted. Stadium economics explain the table: the three billion-dollar tours are all stadium tours, and the gap between them and the arena era is now a matter of genre history.
Thursday's confirmation came from the promoter rather than the artist — Live Nation's numbers, published through Pollstar's accounting, are the industry's record of itself, which is why the same figures appeared simultaneously in Variety and USA Today. The tour that began in July 2022 as a pandemic-delayed double-album run ends as the third-biggest in the history of the business, and the biggest ever by a man singing alone.
The Kuala Lumpur date was also the run's last new market: 30 countries in total, a touring map that ended where the industry's growth is — in Asia's stadium circuit.
